If you thought that this year there were few public holidays, due to some falling on weekends, get ready to enjoy more long holidays in 2026. Check out the dates!

In 2026, nine of the ten national holidays will fall on working days, seven of which will be on a Monday or Friday, guaranteeing more opportunities to extend moments of rest and fun.

In addition to knowing how to better organize your work schedule and commitments, checking the holiday calendar in advance is also a great way to plan trips and outings with your family. 

Check out the calendar of public holidays in 2026 and how to make the most of them!

National holidays in 2026

  • January 1st (Thursday) - New Year;
  • April 3rd (Friday) - Good Friday;
  • April 21 (Tuesday) - Tiradentes;
  • May 1st (Friday) - Labor Day;
  • September 7th (Monday) - Independence of Brazil;
  • October 12 (Monday) - Our Lady of Aparecida, patron saint of Brazil;
  • November 2nd (Monday) - All Souls' Day;
  • November 15th (Sunday) - Proclamation of the Republic;
  • November 20th (Friday) - Black Awareness Day;
  • December 25th (Friday) - Christmas.

Carnival 2026

The Carnival holiday, which will be in February 2026, is considered optional and will take place on the following dates:

  • February 16 (Monday) - Carnival (optional);
  • February 17 (Tuesday) - Carnival (optional);
  • February 18 (Wednesday) - Ash Wednesday (optional until 2 p.m.).

Holy Week 2026

Holy Week will take place between March 29 (Palm Sunday) and April 5 (Easter Sunday), with the national holiday of Good Friday (Passion of Christ) on April 3.

Optional points

Other holidays that are considered optional are:

  • June 4 (Thursday) - Corpus Christi;
  • December 24th (Wednesday) - Christmas Eve.

Fortaleza holidays 

Some state and municipal holidays will also fall on working days and will be extended. Check out the calendar below!

  • March 19th (Thursday) - St. Joseph's Day, patron saint of Ceará;
  • March 25th (Wednesday) - Ceará's Magna Date;
  • April 13th (Monday) - Fortaleza's birthday (optional);
  • August 15th (Saturday) - Our Lady of the Assumption Day, patron saint of Fortaleza.
