Our conservation project

According to the IUCN, approximately 12.5% of the world’s bird species are endangered. In Brazil, that figure rises to 20%, and the situation in Ceará is no different. Poaching, habitat destruction, and wildlife trafficking are the main threats to local biodiversity. Arvorar is directly involved in this effort with a team specialized in wildlife management, following international protocols for animal welfare and conservation. Through its animal welfare plan, the park cares for animals that cannot be released into the wild, supports rehabilitation programs, and contributes to gene banks and the breeding of endangered species.

Refaunar Arvorar: True Jandaia and Dirty-faced Parakeet

Refaunar Arvorar is an initiative to reintroduce native bird species in Ceará that are threatened with extinction, in partnership with Aquasis and the Caatinga Association. The project focuses on the Green-backed Parakeet and the Dirty-faced Parakeet for reintroduction in the Serra das Almas Nature Reserve in Crateús, Ceará, and plans to include new species with a focus on reintroducing them to the wild.
