Together for a more sustainable world: from November 4 to 8, Beach Park is holding the fourth edition of the Sustainable Journey. This social action movement focuses on environmental education. The activities take place in the municipality of Aquiraz, in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza, where Beach Park is located, and in the Serra das Almas Nature Reserve (RNSA), in Crateús, approximately 400 km from the capital of Ceará. The event is restricted to invited guests, including authorities, partners and environmental specialists.
The Sustainable Journey kicks off on Monday (4) with an exclusive visit to Arvorar, Beach Park's new park which will soon be opened to the public in Aquiraz. Dedicated to environmental education, research and conservation of Brazilian biodiversity, Arvorar will offer Jornada guests an immersion in the "Refauna Arvorar" project. Carried out in partnership with the NGOs Associação Caatinga and Associação de Pesquisa e Preservação de Ecossistemas Aquáticos (Aquasis), the project aims to repopulate endangered birds native to Ceará.
On Tuesday (5), the program continues at Azul do Mar, Beach Park's event space, with a series of lectures and panels on the theme "Rehabilitate, Reflood and Conserve - Actions from the Present to the Future", which will feature national speakers who are references in their fields. The opening ceremony will feature a presentation of the Refauna Arvorar project by representatives of Arvorar and the NGOs Aquasis and Associação Caatinga. The first panel, led by Camila Martins, from Em Prática Consultoria em Educação para Conservação (SP), and Romana Aguiar, coordinator of Environmental Education at Parque Arvorar (CE), will then address the topic of "Education for Conservation".
This will be followed by a keynote speech by Neiva Guedes, president of the Blue Macaw Institute (MG), who will share her experience in conservation. The program continues with the panel "Rehabilitation of Wild Animals", which will feature the president of the Fauna Brasil Institute (SC), Vanessa Kanaa, and Fábio Nunes and Weber Girão, from the NGO Aquasis (CE). Marcelo Rheingantz, executive director of Refauna Brasil (RJ), will give the event's second keynote speech on "Filling empty forests with life".
During the morning of the panels and lectures, the Arvorar Call for Proposals will also be launched, which aims to fund projects that focus on wildlife rehabilitation in the state of Ceará.
On the 6th, 7th and 8th, the Sustainable Journey will take to the road to Crateús. The guests will spend three days at the Serra das Almas Nature Reserve, considered the largest Private Natural Heritage Reserve in Ceará. There, managed by the Caatinga Association, they will get to know another stage of the Refauna Arvorar Project, the place where some of the species covered by the project will be reintroduced into their natural habitat, as well as taking part in various other activities aimed at repopulating fauna and preserving endangered species. They will also take part in a talk about the Cara-suja Parakeet conservation project and the Refauna project and a special edition of "Passarinhar Serra das Almas", a special birdwatching walk that provides a real immersion in the region's biodiversity.
Beach Park's relationship with the Serra das Almas Nature Reserve goes back a long way. For three years, Beach Park has been inventorying and offsetting its carbon emissions. And last year, the Group received the 'Protector of Serra das Almas - Onça Parda category' Seal, from the Caatinga Association, for offsetting its emissions by adopting 20 hectares in the Serra das Almas Nature Reserve.
The event will close on Friday (8) with an educational event aimed at students from the public schools of Porto das Dunas, Aquiraz. They will go to the Beach Park Composting Yard to learn about the Mãos à Horta project. Children and young people will have the opportunity to learn about organic cultivation, composting, recycling and the importance of healthy and sustainable eating. The activities not only promote environmental education, but also strengthen cooperation and social responsibility among the students.
"The Sustainable Journey is an opportunity to inspire real change. Sustainability is possible and accessible to everyone, and together we can build a greener and more prosperous future," emphasizes Raíssa Bissol, Beach Park's Sustainability Manager.
