March is a special month for the people of Ceará, with two important days on the official calendar. Check out the holiday dates and see how you can enjoy them!

In addition to celebrating the state's culture and history, the March holidays are also great opportunities to relax and enjoy family time in Ceará. In 2026, the celebrations will take place on two working days.

The first holiday is St. Joseph's Day, celebrated on March 19, a date that traditionally mobilizes the faithful in several cities in Ceará.

On March 25, the state celebrates Data Magna, a historic milestone that commemorates the abolition of slavery in the territory of Ceará. Both dates usually alter the functioning of public services and offices.

For those who want to turn their vacation into an unforgettable experience, the March holidays are ideal for planning a special trip. With warm weather and blue skies prevailing at this time of year, the coast of Ceará becomes even more inviting for days of leisure and fun.

March 19 (Thursday): Saint Joseph's Day

March 19 marks St. Joseph's Day, patron saint of Ceará and a figure of great importance to the state's religious tradition. The date is celebrated with masses, processions, and cultural events in various cities, especially in Fortaleza and the interior.

The holiday is municipal in Fortaleza and other municipalities in Ceará, which means that public agencies and some businesses may have different hours. For many residents, it is also a time to strengthen their faith and keep alive a tradition that spans generations.

March 25 (Wednesday): Magna Date of Ceará

On March 25, Ceará celebrates Data Magna, which commemorates the abolition of slavery in the state in 1884. Ceará was the first province in Brazil to officially free enslaved people, four years before the Golden Law, an achievement of great historical significance.

Data Magna is a state holiday, valid throughout the territory of Ceará. Schools, public offices, and various establishments usually suspend activities, allowing the population to participate in civic and cultural events that value the memory and identity of the state.
