Brazil has made history in the world of entertainment. On Wednesday afternoon (the 29th), “Surreal, ” a ride at the Beach Park water park in Aquiraz, on the east coast of Ceará, was officially certified by Guinness World Records™ as the world’s tallest water roller coaster. At 28 meters tall, the attraction breaks the previous record and puts Brazil at the top of a competition that had, until now, been dominated by international parks.
“This recognition underscores a very positive moment for Aqua Park, which was already being recognized as one of the best in the world. Surreal further enhances this visibility and reflects the dedicated work of teams who believe in innovative projects and strive to deliver them with excellence.” Murilo Pascoal, CEO of Beach Park
The world record: 28 meters of pure adrenaline
The certification was granted following a technical measurement that confirmed Surreal’s height of 28 meters, a figure that surpasses the previous record held by the Tsunami Surge attraction in the United States, which had topped the global rankings since 2021 at 26 meters. This achievement is the result of an investment of approximately R$ 30 million and represents the largest attraction ever built in the history of Aqua Park.
Surreal vs. Tsunami Surge: What Has Changed in the Rankings?
Since 2021, the Tsunami Surge in the United States had held the top spot in the rankings of the world’s tallest water roller coasters, at 26 meters. With the arrival of Surreal and its 28 meters, Brazil has taken the lead for the first time, surpassing the previous record by 2 meters.
What is it like to ride the Surreal?
With a design inspired by the world of surfing, the Surreal transports visitors into an immersive experience from the very first second. As you ascend, a panoramic view of the Ceará coastline unfolds, and then begins the 77-second ride that blends adrenaline and contemplation:
Unlike traditional water slides, the Surreal alternates between steep drops, sharp turns, and jet-powered boosts, reaching speeds of up to 42 km/h over a course of more than 340 meters. This combination is unprecedented in Latin America and has quickly made the ride the park’s most popular attraction. So much so that Aqua Park has implemented, for the first time in its history, an exclusive fast pass system for Surreal.

Beach Park: a world-class destination
The GuinnessWorld Record isn’t the only recent accolade. An international benchmark, Aqua Park is currently ranked by TripAdvisor as the 2nd best water park in the world and the best in the Americas (Travelers’ Choice 2026), a position that Surreal is only set to reinforce.
With an integrated complex that includes the Aqua Park, Arvorar Park, four resorts, and seaside experiences, Beach Park is one of the largest entertainment complexes in Latin America and a major driver of tourism in Ceará.
Impact on Ceará’s tourism
Surreal’s achievement extends beyond the boundaries of Beach Park. It establishes Ceará as a key player on the international entertainment and tourism map, and comes at just the right time for a state that boasts unique natural attractions:
With this Guinness World Record, Ceará now has another strong selling point to attract domestic and international visitors, reaffirming tourism as one of the strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy.
